(PRESS RELEASE) PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA — Silicon Valley Insurtech, Zillion, announces its support of Mercury Free Mining (MFM), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the eradication of mercury use in artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) and ensuring the public trust in the jewelry industry gold supply chain.
Nearly 40% of global mercury pollution originates from 15 to 20 million ASGM who have no practical alternatives to using toxic mercury in their gold mining. MFM is calling on jewelry industry leaders to stand in solidarity with these miners and commit to the development and deployment of responsible gold-sourcing practices.
Zillion, an Ambassador Circle Member of Mercury Free Mining’s Leadership Council, acknowledges the critical importance of supporting sustainable, efficient, and safe gold mining practices.
